SpA

The year 2024 is an anniversary year for the Speech Therapy Outpatient Clinic. Since its foundation four decades ago, the SpA has been providing high-quality speech therapy services for children and young people. Through continuous research and innovative approaches, the SpA has contributed to the development of speech therapy, particularly in the field of selective mutism.

Due to its close connection to the Department of Language and Communication, the Speech and Language Therapy Outpatient Clinic is involved in relevant research and teaching. As a university teaching and research outpatient clinic, the SpA was a permanent fixture in the training of prospective academic speech therapists at TU Dortmund University for many years and was regarded as a model for linking university teaching and practice-relevant research. This made it possible to develop innovative approaches in speech therapy and at the same time train future generations of speech therapists and special school teachers in speech therapy fields of action.

Over the past 40 years, the SpA has also established itself as a trustworthy point of contact for patients, relatives and professionals nationwide.
